Slow down, manic world;
pause only for a moment.

Wait,

rest on your
tired, spinning axis.
Breathe,
and breathe again,
deep and idle,
leisurely and sweet.

Slow down, little ticking clock,
ushering along Time with your
swiftly tilting hands.
Slow down and listen
to the space between the seconds,
to the thoughts between the shadows.

Stop the constant, numbing busyness,
and the nagging, gnawing need
to be always fixing something,
to be never doing nothing.

Stop the ever present
drip, drip, drip
of worried little ponderings,
Sustained, unceasing,
Never once off beat.

For now, just dawdle
in an aimless sort of waltz;
ignore the pulsing three,
the strong and present one,
to find yourself enchanted
with a very different drive.
Embrace the ambiguity,
and learn to love the vague.

Stop, manic world,
for one contended, crystal moment
and perhaps if we rest hard enough,

we’ll unwind the anxious Time.
