Back and forth, to and fro,
up and down I never know
when or if they plan to land,
holding silence in my hand
I
wait
wait
for quietness, for still,
waiting always, waiting till I
cannot take the endless racing,
always thinking always pacing
still I
wait
wait
in the dark, getting older,
gaining daylight, growing colder
as the icy thoughts blow past me
is it fair? They didn’t ask me
if I’d
wait
wait
for permission, for some sign,
for a peaceful, silent mind,
far too early far too late,
yet these thoughts insist I
wait
wait
wait
yet these thoughts insist I
wait
before I
sleep.
