[ b r e a t h e ]

before she leaves you,
little trickster, slick and small,
hiding fast in every moment,
every second
every now

[ b r e a t h e ]

and she may smile,
giggle loud enough to let herself be caught,
where she has always stopped
to wait

wait

resting there in buttons lost,
pennies found,
two-steps

skipped

danced

frolicked

on a million different sidewalks,
in a million sunlit springs

…life…

breathes,

e x p a n d s

in a slow and steady saunter,
through the effervescent laughs
of children,
humming to a slightly slower beat
than those of us
well practiced in the art of worried rush

…life…

[b r e a t h e s]

wonders

waits

belongs
to secret, blushing kisses,
sudden looks,
twinkling truths,

gently resting on a thousand different pillows
on a multitude of nights

…life…

waits
in the quietness of midnight
in the heat of conversation
in the sparkling crystal moments
wound like brightly colored scarves
around the anxious neck of Time
and while
you are busy
running and
becoming

…life…is…

breathing

waiting

being

[ b r e a t h e ]

before she leaves you,
little trickster,
slick
small,
hiding fast in

every moment,

every second

every now

…life…
